Folder EMWIS National Information Seminar in Egypt, 10 February 2007

EMWIS National Focal Point in Egypt, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation –MWRI-, organised, in Cairo last 10th February 2007, a national workshop to launch EMWIS National website project in Egypt. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, Minister of Water resources and Irrigation, opened the workshop stressing the importance of sharing water information within and outside the MWRI for the water stakeholders but also to use EMWIS to inform the general public. H.E. Dr Abu Zeid who took part in the creation of EMWIS at the Ministerial conference of Marseilles in 1996, foresees 2 main routes for EMWIS in the future: i) the organisation of data-flows within the countries (a priority of the Egyptian Water Master Plan) and ii) the exchange of information and know-how between countries.
The development of the Egyptian EMWIS website is supported by the Italian cooperation.
