7. Contract description
The
purposes of the project are to provide users with more and better statistical
data in the priority thematic sectors and an increased use of these data.
Expected results of the project are improved statistical capacities and an
institutional strengthening of the National Statistical Institutes and Systems including
improved cooperation within countries, a further harmonisation of statistical
data, in line with European and international standards, the consolidation of
the data exchange process and the further feeding of the database at DG
Eurostat, a promotion of regional exchange of experiences and cooperation and
the creation of a forum of statisticians, a more user-friendly dissemination of
statistics, a better understanding of and an increased awareness of the
importance of statistics by the users.

This forecast notice is
published under suspension clause pending the adoption by the Commission of the
related financing decision (foreseen in June 2009).

Regulation (EC) No 1638/2006 of the European Parliament
and of the Council of 24 October 2006 laying down general provisions
establishing a European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument
