Event 6-day intensive course on: “Theory and Practice of Brackish/Seawater Desalination by Reverse Osmosis Technology”

This 2nd part of the course is self-contained and it is continuation of the 1st part of the course held in March, 2006. This course is focused on practical application, operation and troubleshooting of Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, whereas the 1st part concentrated on fundamentals of membrane processes. The first section of this course summarizes the contents covered in the 1st part to link the subjects covered in this 2nd part of the course including: chemical conditioning, cleaning utilities as well as Reverse Osmosis monitoring systems. The second section of the course focus on system operation optimization, illustration of common start-up and shut down procedures as well as the importance, possibilities and requirements of data keeping. The third section is dedicated to the analysis and troubleshooting of the system performance by means of data evaluation and normalization not only manual but also using available software tools from RO membrane manufacturers. As a consequence of this analysis, course participants also learn how to successful operate their RO systems and apply required cleaning or disinfection processes. The course is aimed for technicians having a good background in Reverse Osmosis technology and provides the operators, design-engineers or site managers practical knowledge and information about raw water pre-treatment, system design, and system construction and operation. The major topics covered include:
• Basics of water chemistry, sampling, the most important parameters
• System operation, start up and shut down procedures
• Data keeping
• Data evaluation & Normalization
• Trouble shooting
• Cleaning instructions
The number of course participants will be limited to 40 and will be selected by MEDRC / TORAY based on internal procedures. The course fees with course material, coffee and lunches during breaks will be free of charge.
