Event The International Water Association (IWA) 11th International Specialized Conference on Watershed & River Basin Management


A Watershed & Riverbasin Conference is under preparation in Hungary under the auspices of the International Water Association (IWA). The event will be held in Budapest 4-5 September, 2008, focusing on river basin management practices in different countries of the world. Topics include (not exhaustively):
  • Hierarchal approaches to river basin management.
  • Advanced computation and decision support;
  • The impact of climate change
  • Flood control and prevention.
  • Effective methods to involve stakeholders
  • Conflicts and multi-objective management
In the Preliminary Programme there are
  • 3 key note presentations (two at the opening session and one is scheduled at the conference dinner)
  • 48 oral presentations (12 sessions had to be set up with 4 parallel sessions)
  • 26 posters (for which short papers were submitted).


Authors of oral papers and posters are from 30 countries representing all continents. According to the most conservative estimate at least 100 - 110 experts will come to the conference.
