Event Africa Region Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group Meeting

The first meeting of the Africa Region Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group aims to review the draft Pan African Water Sector Monitoring and Evaluation report in Tunis from 13th to 14th November 2008.

You will recall that the AMCOW TAC and EXCO meetings held in Entebbe from 15 to 17 February 2006, requested the AWF to take the lead in developing a regional framework for water sector monitoring and evaluation. Consequently the AWF organized a regional consultative meeting to share experiences and build partnership to support African countries in water sector monitoring and evaluation in Tunis from 21-22 September 2006 in Tunis. The consultative meeting adopted a regional M&E action plan and requested the AWF to undertaken a pan African assessment of water sector M&E with the view to developing the framework. The meeting agreed that work would be guided by a Regional Working Group of relevant stakeholders of M&E in Africa.

The Pan African Assessment study was undertaken by the consulting firm, Cowater International and the Draft Final Report has been prepared. The Draft Final Report was submitted to the AWF and has been reviewed internally by the ADB. In accordance with the decision taken at the Tunis meeting, the draft final report is to be reviewed by the Working Group, to which you have been proposed to be a member.

We would appreciate your participation in the Regional Working Group meeting in Tunis from 13 to 14 November 2008. In order to receive an official invitation, please confirm by return email your availability to attend the meeting on the proposed dates, or the name and details of a representative from your organization who will attend on your behalf.
