Water Security for Policy Makers and Practitioners: short course 2010
The course is designed for entry and mid-level water and development policy-makers and professionals in government, donor, NGO or implementing agencies. The course will provide policy-makers with comprehensive background knowledge relevant to the increasingly important field of ‘water security'. The course will explore how the multiple levels of water security - human, community, state, international and global - require focussed but considered policy inputs. Emphasis will be placed on overlaps with water security-related sectors such as climate security, food security and energy security. Participants will also learn how different users and sectors contribute to water (in)security, with an emphasis on the importance of shifting global climate and trade patterns.
Upon completion of the course, participants can expect to have an ability to critically assess water policy at multiple levels, as well as to have extended their networks and knowledge base, and a greater confidence for policy design or implementation. A certificate of completion will be issued by the School of International Development, University of East Anglia.
