Event Drinking Water Quality Technology Summit

In light of the recent Obama administration announcement of a 'comprehensive plan to strengthen water quality monitoring', the Drinking Water Quality Technology Summit is being held on 13th and 14th July 2011 in Chicago. The summit provides an environment for investor and state-owned water utilities, government bodies and industry suppliers to critically evaluate the threat of emerging contaminants and new treatment technology.

Emerging Contaminants Analsed are hexavalent chromium; endocrine disruptors; pharmaceuticals; personal care products and perchlorate.

The summit agenda has been designed in collaboration with industry to tackle exactly what the industry stressed it wanted to hear.  From understanding the latest developments in managing emerging contaminants to cost-effective, long-term distribution systems optimization, the Drinking Water Quality Technology Summit 2011 is the only event to directly address issues designed by the industry itself.

Speakers include Bill Decklemann, Laboratory Director, American Water; Stanley States, Director of Water Quality & Production, Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority; Andrea Putz, Director of Water Research, City of Chicago Water Department; Doug Graham, Assistant Director Source and Treatment, Central Arkansas Water; Dave Schuler, Chief Engineer, Saint Paul Regional Water Resources; Cheryl Porter, Assistant Director of Water Supply & Operations, Detroit Water & Sewerage Department and Pedro Porras, Chief of Water Operations, Otay Water District.

Whilst the plan from President Obama aims to highlight the importance of partnerships and co-ordination with states, local communities, stakeholders and the public to protect health and water quality, the Drinking Water Quality Technology Summit 2011 is the only platform where utility operators have specifically designed the agenda from their experiences and operational issues in detection, monitoring and treatment of water contaminants.

Also, included in the summit are the vital topics of disinfectant by-products, nitrification, distribution system optimisation and source water quality and supply, all related to President Obama’s recent comments on source water, water quality and America’s ageing infrastructure.
