Event Online Training on Sludge Treatment and Management (8 Hour)

Following a brief review of the removal of pollution from wastewaters and the consequent production of primary and secondary sludges, this unit examines the characteristics of industrial and municipal sewage sludges and the options available for subsequent treatment and reuse. Sludge removal and consolidation, conditioning, anaerobic (and aerobic) digestion, mechanical dewatering, thermal drying and incineration are explained and discussed together with advanced sludge treatment (AST) options, including pyrolysis and gasification. Combined heat and power and energy from waste issues are also dealt with together with a particular emphasis on land application of stabilised sludges for agriculture, horticulture and reclamation uses. The unit also reviews the relevant UK legislative and regulatory framework relating to sewage sludge management/reuse.

The cost of the unit is £352.50 (all inclusive). The unit has a learning time equivalent to 8 hours spread over 5 weeks.
