Event Baku World Forum of Young Scientists 2014

After the success of “New Challenges in the European Area: International Baku Forum of Young Scientists” in May, 2013 which was a joint initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Young Scientists, Postgraduate and Masters Union (AYSPMU) with the organizational support of the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers “Eurodoc”, the organizers decided to face a new challenge and organize the event to cover all the world – Baku World Forum of Young Scientists.  The positive feedback received from the participants of “New Challenges in the European Area: International Baku Forum of Young Scientists” highlighting the importance of this sort events in their career and finding it essential to have platforms dedicated to sharing, professional cooperation and development strengthened the decision made.

The purpose of Baku World Forum of Young Scientists is to bring together young scientists and researchers interested in the constant search of the proper reply to the new challenges, adequate and professional dialogue as well as new experience and new ideas. Furthermore, it aims to create suitable conditions for the performance of interdisciplinary research in the future and strengthen the existing young scientist networks in the world.

The main topic of the Forum is “New Challenges in the World Science: Joint Approaches of Young Scientists”. It was chosen, as emerging challenges require the adequate reaction to them and joint efforts in all spheres of our life. The Forum aims to define critical points of this approach and enrich them with new expertise, experience and ideas.

Within the structure of the Forum, five following sessions will be held simultaneously:

  • Technical Sciences: “Technical sciences as the basis of the modern innovation systems”
  • Medicine, Biology and Chemistry: “Natural processes on the basis of a new technology creation”
  • Ecology, Earth and Agriculture: “Interdisciplinary approach in earth, agrarian and environmental investigations”
  • Economy and Sociology: “Economy and sociology as the combination of the successful development of the global society”
  • History, Philosophy, Culture: “Problems of the social-humanitarian sciences in modern world”

The sessions were divided by the disciplines. However, all of them exhibit the combination of two or more disciplines to give the scientists with different backgrounds the opportunity to have more fruitful and interesting discussions.

More than 300 foreign participants from about 100 countries are expected to take part in the Forum.  All the participants are required to have at least PhD degree in order to avoid random participants, not interested in science.

Baku World Forum of Young Scientists as a unique event is considered to be used not only as an international platform for the young scientists, but also as an instrument to promote the science among the youth, increase their awareness on current academic topics and challenges as well as attract more young people to the research and investigations in both Azerbaijan and the world. It is expected to be achieved via relevant promotion in media and social media.

Objectives and outcomes

Serving as the platform for the exchange of new ideas, establishing new contacts and cooperation with young scientists from other countries/academic institutions, Baku World Forum of Young Scientists highlights following key elements:

Global format: The science conferences in “regional” or “international” formats are organized on the regular basis all over the world. From this point of view, Baku World Forum of Young Scientists is a unique opportunity to bring together young scientists from every point of the Earth in order to develop common understanding of new work methods and principles, share with the results and achievements, define new goals and objectives. Furthermore, global format of the Forum enlarges the horizon and facilitates the analysis of the current situation regarding the science development in the world, in general, and in every specific region, in particular.

Interdisciplinary approach: New era brought new challenges and new problems to the scientists, which cannot be addressed adequately within one specific discipline. Interdisciplinary approach, including joint efforts of the representatives of different disciplines and fields, to the new demands is the guarantee of new discoveries, new methods and gradual progress as the result.

Sincere participation and engagement: The developed agenda of Baku World Forum of Young Scientists focuses on providing constant interactivity of the speakers and auditorium,  sincere dialogue between the potential partners and engagement of all the participants into the discussions regardless their academic status and achievements.

Sharing experiences: The countries around the world are at various stages of science development and investigations as well as at different levels of the academic training of young scientists. In this framework, it is crucial to create international platforms to enable sharing experience and knowledge, success stories and know-hows and increase the regional, interregional and interdisciplinary cooperation.

Cultural exchange: Science and culture are two major cornerstones of the development of any country. Cultural exchange seems important in frames of the global event as in enriches the interpersonal communication of the event participants and contributes to the newly established contacts. It also gives a good chance to a host country to present itself and make new friends.
