IWA Conference: Activated Sludge - 100 Years and Counting / IWA Young Water Professionals Chapter Germany: Advanced wastewater treatment and water reuse

This conference will bring together the experience and expertise of 100 years of scientific research and practical operation of activated sludge plants that form the basis of the modern understanding of the process. The conference will be a forward-looking event that showcases the latest developments and applications of the technology.

The  programme of oral presentations was developed in close co-operation of the IWA Specialist Groups on “Design, Operation and Costs of Large Wastewater Treatment Plants”, “Nutrient Removal and Recovery” and “Microbial Ecology and Water Engineering” with support from the Specialist Groups on “Sludge Management” and “Membrane Technology”.

In addition to the invited oral presentations a Call for Posters will be announced in October 2013.

The conference venue will be the Unesco World Heritage site  "Zeche Zollverein" in Essen.
Essen was also the location of the first activated sludge plant on the European continent.

The Pre-Conference: Advanced wastewater treatment and water reuse - 11/06/2014: 

This conference is the first international conference organized by the IWA Young Water Professionals Chapter Germany. Our aim is to provide an international forum for young researchers and professionals working in water and wastewater research, technology and management to present their work and meet their peers from all over the world.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet some of the renowned professionals in the wastewater field which will be presenting their expertise during the following Specialized Conference “ACTIVATED SLUDGE - 100 YEARS AND COUNTING!” also held in Essen from June 12th-14th 2014.
