Workshop “Assessment of pressures on European water bodies”
The workshop is organised by the JRC on 11&12 May in Ispra (IT) on the Assessment of pressures on European water bodies.
The principle of this activity and workshop was presented and welcome in the last SCG meeting in November 2015. It takes part in the CIS activity included in the new programme as a Task for SCG associated to the assessment of 2nd RBMPs and 1st FRMPs .
The objective of this workshop is to illustrate in details the methodologies and preliminary results of JRC pressure indicators, and collect feedback from the Member states in order improve the approaches also based on additional information that may be made available. The JRC pressure indicators will provide a benchmark at EU level to which the reported characterisation of pressures by MS in the 2nd RBMPs can be compared.
It is crucial that these pressure indicators are checked against knowledge available at the level of individual river basin districts, in order to ensure they are realistic and reflect the relative intensity of stress on water bodies across Europe. Therefore we warmly encourage Member States to delegate experts involved in the assessment of pressures in RBD to this workshop.
