Mediterranean Preparatory Process for the 8^th World water Forum

“To build with all the Mediterranean Water stakeholders, a regional voice in the process of the 8^th World Water Forum in Brasilia."

Within the framework of the Mediterranean preparatory process for the 8^th World Water Forum which will be held in Brasilia from 18 to 23 March 2018, a large mobilization of the Mediterranean water stakeholders will be organized through a regional event.

Initiated in 2011 in Marrakech, the Mediterranean Water Forum, efficient platform for dialogue and exchange between all stakeholders in the region, aims to strengthen the cooperation and knowledge and experience exchange in water field.

Main step of the preparatory process for the 8^th World Water Forum, after Marrakech (Morocco) in 2011, Murcia (Spain) in 2014, the 3rd edition of the Mediterranean Water Forum will be held on 23 and 24 January 2018 in Cairo by invitation of the National Water Research Center/Egyptian Ministry of Water resources and Irrigation.

Launched in Monaco on 11 July 2017 with the support of the Foundation Prince Albert II de Monaco, this regional event is organized by the coordinators of the Mediterranean Process, the Institut Méditerranéen de l’Eau and the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean.

The 3rd Mediterranean Water Forum will gather the Mediterranean Water Community to discuss and debate on priority topics linked with the Thematic Framework of the 8^th World Water Forum:

 1. Climate : Water and climate change mitigation

2. People : Integrated sanitation for all

3. Development : Water for Energy

4. Urban : Treatment and reuse technologies

5. Ecosystems : Managing and restoring for water services and biodiversity

6. Finance : Finance for sustainable development

Sessions articulated around these Mediterranean topics will be organized under the shape of working groups and panels to introduce exchanges and points of view to prepare the participation of the Mediterranean Region in 8^th world Water Forum.

An exhibition stand, side events and other meetings will be held within the framework of the forum.
