News Climate Change Vulnerability and Impact Assessment in Morocco

The recently held UNFCCC African Regional Workshop on Adaptation which was conducted in Ghana last September was a very important opportunity to discuss in detailes adaptation and vulnerability in Africa and be used as models for other regions including the Arab countries which have some ecological similarities with Africa especially in water and agricultural sectors. This is even more essential taking into consideration the high emphasis placed on adaptation by the UNFCCC and GEF in the coming years. During the meeting, Morocco presented an important presentation on the Climate Change Vulnerability and Impact Assessment in Morocco. In the Paper prepared by Mr Mohammad Jalil member of the National Scientific & technical Committee on Climate Change in Morocco. Morocco identifies to main priority sectors for adaptation which are water resources and agriculture, with a mention of Coastal areas as another identified sector. The paper includes an in-depth analysis of the state of knowledge on vulnerability as well gaps identified and proposed actions. One of the best visions for vulnerability and adaptation in the Arab countries thus far.
