Note on the 4th General Assembly of MENBO - Mediterranean Cooperation Session: Capacity Building of River Basin Organisations (RBOs) and Mediterranean Cooperation

The Mediterranean Network of Basin Organisations (MENBO) and GWP-Med organised a Cooperation Session on the Mediterranean Basin, together with MENBO’s 4th General Assembly preceding the Euro-Mediterranean Water Directors Conference. During the Session, which took place in Athens on the 5th of November, several projects (TWINBASIN, MELIA, GEWAMED, SPI-Water), organisations (IME, GWP-Med and EMWIS) and initiatives on IWRM in the region were presented, and some of the discussion topics included water reuse, National plans, EUWI-Med and experience and knowledge exchange. The over 30 participants in the event represented 8 different countries (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, France, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Spain), and agreed on the need of continuing and improving cooperation in the Mediterranean.
