HEP, MWRI invites experienced private operators to bid for a concession area consisting of approximately 190,000 feddans located in the southern portion of the West Delta area. The private operator will have to design and construct a closed conduit (piped) surface water irrigation system in the project area and to operate and maintain the same over a concession period of 30-years.
The MWRI has received a loan from the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development “IBRD” and intend to apply a portion of this loan to finance the first phase of the project (90,000 feddans). It is foreseen to give the services to a private operator who has engaged in the design and construction of large and multi-component infrastructure pipe networks relevant to that envisioned for the West Delta Project and has the ability to sustain working capital requirements related to a business activity with a consolidated sales or gross revenue of about US$100 million or US$35 million for a single operation.
