Communication / Administrative Officer

 

 

Location:    GWP-Med Secretariat, Athens, Greece

 

Contract:   Two year term, renewed, with a 3 months probation period.

The Communication / Administrative Officer will be on the pay-roll of the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), the Host Institution of the GWP-Med Secretariat.

BACKGROUND

 

The Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) is a Regional Water Partnership of the Global Water Partnership (GWP). The GWP-Med is an open platform bringing together competent organisations from all over the Mediterranean to promote and exchange knowledge on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for the sustainable development of the region’s water resources. Tasks related to the post include:

 

(i)                  leading the communications component of the GWP-Med works and the GWP-Med Secretariat’s interactions with member organisations, the press, the general public;

(ii)                administratively assisting implementation of GWP-Med activities, including organization of conferences, workshops and other events.

 

The Communication / Administrative Officer reports to the GWP-Med Executive Secretary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·       Develop and implement communications strategy to promote the GWP-Med objectives.

·       Maintain systematic communication with the GWP-Med members.

·       Administratively assist in the organisation of GWP-Med events, including conferences, workshops, etc.

·       Manage the GWP-Med website.

·       Develop and manage the GWP-Med databases.

·       Further develop and maintain the network of journalists.

·       Assist in the development and production of press releases, articles, interviews and publications, and promote and disseminate these to GWP-Med members, specific target groups and to the media.

·       Maintain regular contact with printers, designers, text writers, journalists and other relevant groups.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

·         Degree in public relations, communications or related field.

·         At least 2 years work experience in communications and public relations, preferably in an international environment.

·         Experience in preparation, design and production of the full range of communications material for publication.

·         Experience working with the media.

·         Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and PageMaker.

·         Creative with excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

·         Excellent written and spoken English and French.

·         Knowledge of Arabic and work in Arab countries is an advantage.

 

 

Salary will be calculated based on qualifications (degrees, experience, etc) with a maximum of 19,000 Euro per year (gross, including social charges).
