ESA, we have lift off!
In a major boost for the European Space Agency, EUMETSAT —responsible for
the monitoring of the weather, climate and environment — has signed an
agreement with the ESA for the provision of essential launch control
services for the latest two Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellites:
MSG-3 and MSG-4. This agreement recognises the excellence of the ESA and the
high-quality working partnership that already exists between these two
organisations.
Founded in the mid-1980s, EUMETSAT's main purpose is to provide weather and
climate-related satellite data, images and products 24 hours a day, 365 days
a year. This valuable information is then supplied to the National
Meteorological Services of the organisation's 20 Member and 10 Cooperating
States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
