Transparency International is seeking a highly motivated professional for the position of:
Programme Coordinator, Africa and the Middle East Transparency and Integrity in Delivering Basic Water Services
(full-time position)
Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
The Africa and Middle East (AFME) Department is one of four regional departments at the Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) and is made up of the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) sub and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) sub-regions. Staff in the AFME department facilitate the effective provision of support to TI National Chapters in the region.
The Programme Coordinator (PC) will – as part of a team of five –
facilitate implementation of a new regional programme on promoting
greater transparency in the management of resources in the education,
health and water sectors in sub-Saharan Africa (“Transparency in
Service Delivery in Africa” – TISDA). Providing support to chapters
working on the water sector under the TISDA programme (Kenya, Ghana and
Senegal), s/he will also act as the AFME focal point for broader
liaison with the Water Integrity Network (WIN), whose Secretariat is
based at TI-S.
The PC will also be responsible for providing overall support to and
helping build the capacity of other TI chapters and partners in the
region in line with TI’s global and regional strategic frameworks, as
well as to ensure regional learning and information exchange. S/he will
actively support national chapters in his/her area of responsibility on
overall operational and programme management and governance capacity
building. S/he will also be expected to actively engage with other
(external) stakeholders, building new partnerships and ensuring the
value-added of TI’s work. Other tasks in support of the work of the
department will be as directed by the line manager.
