News Invitation to Water Week 2009: "Tackling global water challenges", Washington, DC - World Bank

We are pleased to invite you to participate in Water Week 2009 to be held on February 17 - 20 at the World Bank Headquarters at 1818 H St. NW in Washington, D.C.

The theme of this year's Water Week is: Tackling global water challenges. The program will address the many urgent challenges facing the developing world such as adapting to climate change, responding to the food crisis, keeping the momentum for the MDGs, and dealing with the potential impact of the global economic crisis, among others.

Although the World Bank Water Week is the Bank's premier water learning event for staff, this year's event will be open to external participants by invitation. It will bring together experts from the international water community and will provide a unique opportunity to exchange experiences between peers, in anticipation of the discussions at the fifth World Water Forum in Istanbul, Turkey (March 16-22, 2009).

The World Bank Water Week is jointly organized by the Water Anchor in partnership with the Water Sector Board. The Internet link below on the World Bank water website will allow you to access updated information about the Water Week (including program) in upcoming weeks.

If you wish to attend Water Week, you need to you use the "registration" link on the above mentioned webpage and complete the electronic registration form. You should also contact the same email if you would like to request invitations for other colleagues, or for any other questions.

Please note that no financing is available to sponsor external guests. All external participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Visa letters will be provided to those who request so in the electronic registration process.
