Prince Hashem patronizes opening of Euro-Med. Conference on Water

Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Al Hussein patronized the Euro-Med.
Ministerial Conference on Water at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea shores.
Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abdul Saud, his Egyptian
counterpart Mahmoud Abu Zeid and the French Minister of Environment and
Energy Jean-Louis Borloo made remarks at the conference in which they
highlighted the importance of cooperation among participating countries
to set up a long-term water strategy.
Abul Saud pointed to water problems facing in Jordan due to forced
migration that Jordan witnessed over the past years, and the lack of
rainfall.
He said water deficit in Jordan exceeds 500 million cubic meters and
that the per capital share of water a year does not exceed 150 cubic
meter.
The minister said the government was keen to implement a number of
water projects such as the Disi Water Conveyance project and the Red
Sea-Dead Sea Canal.
