Israel Electric looks for Hadera desalination maintenance
Israel Electric Corporation is negotiating to take over maintenance
for the 275,000 m³/d Hadera desalination plant, currently under
construction in Israel, according to the Globes financial newspaper.
The plant is being built on land belonging to IEC's Orot-Rabin power
station by a consortium of IDE Technologies and Housing &
Construction.
The Hadera reverse-osmosis plant will begin operations later
in 2009 or early next year and will purchase electricity from IEC, who,
according to the report, have approached the developers about the
maintenance contract.
The European Investment Bank approved in March 2009
€ 35 million (US$ 49 million) financing for a € 70 million (US$ 98
million) extension of the Hadera desalination plant by adding
production capacity to deliver an additional 74,000 m³/d.
