Spain is moving towards a new water management model in line with European legislation
Thegeneral director of Water in the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, Marta Moren, closed in Villarrobledo (Albacete), aninformation day on the agricultural sector in the Upper Guadiana,organized by the Consortium Alto Guadiana and the Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA).
Inher speech, Marta Moren said that Spain is moving towards a newmodel of water management in line with European legislation and takinginto account both the economic value and social value and ecologicalvalue of the resource, in order to ensure their availability and quality, optimizing its use and protecting and restoring the associated ecosystems.
Marta Moren has stressed that the Ministry's lead this historic challenge. Butthe solutions to water problems in Spain can not be achieved by oneorganization or one sector of society, require the engagement of civilsociety organizations, among which farmers' organizations.
