Launch of the TourMedEau website, the portal for the promotion of wastewater reuse in touristy areas of the Mediterranean
An international consortium composed by local authorities, universities and Tunisian, Moroccan and Italian NGOs, is pleased to announce the launch of the TourMedEau portal (www.tourmedeau.eu), under the TourMedEau project, selected by the European Commission within the Programme Ciudad - Cooperation in Urban Development And Dialogue funded by the European Neighbourhood Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
The portal gives both to project partners and to a wider public interested in waste waster reuse projects an opportunity to interact and share those information that could in turn be useful for the development, planning and implementation of local development initiatives, related to wastewater treatment and its possible reuse.
The Thematic Forum constitutes an essential part of the portal: all the actors are involved in this virtual space and can share ideas on sustainable water management in Tunisia and Morocco, mainly on treated waste water reuse.
The Forum gives access to the following sections:
- The information, concerning the different subjects for discussion;
- The Wiki , a Wikipedia on sustainable management of water resources;
- The good practices, projects of great value in the field of sustainable water management.
The TourMedEau project aims to promote dialogue and cooperation between local governments of both shores of the Mediterranean, in order to improve environmental sustainability in urban areas through a more efficient public management of water services.
The Partnerships is composed as follows:
The Municipality of Ajim, ENIS (École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Sfax, Laboratoire Dynamique Sédimentaire et Environnement), the Municipality of El Hoceima, the NGO AGIR, the University Moulay Ismail de Meknès, the Municipality of Villasimìus (leader), ENAS (body of water management in Sardinia) and CRENoS (Centre for Economic Research North-South, University of Cagliari). The Tunisian government agencies ONAS an SONEDE, and the Moroccan government agency ONEP also participate in the project.
