ENPI CBC Med call for strategic projects attracts over 300 proposals
Just over 300 applications were submitted in response to the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme’s recent call for strategic proposals.
According to a press release, all 14 countries covered by the Programme are present in this call. Almost 43% of the partners come from Mediterranean Partner Countries with Italy, Spain and Greece the most active Applicants.
In terms of priorities favoured by Applicants, Priority 1 – the promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories - attracted 60% of projects, while the remaining 40% focused on Priority 2 – the promotion of environmental sustainability at the basin level. This is in line with the budget breakdown foreseen for the call for strategic projects. In fact the total value of the submitted proposals, which involved around 3,000 Euro-Mediterranean organisations, is €1.18 billion. This is more than 16 times the budget available, which is €62.4 million. A total of €1billion in ENPI contributions was requested.
An administrative check of the Concept Notes is currently being carried out. Only those projects fulfilling all the administrative and technical criteria will be admitted to the qualitative evaluation.
The ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007/2013 is a multilateral cross-border cooperation programme co-financed by the EU under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument.
