News New CBCMed project promotes a sustainable Mediterranean through audiovisual cooperation

A new Mediterranean Cross-Border Cooperation project aims to enhance audiovisual cooperation and to inform the public on the environmental challenges in cross-border regions of the Mediterranean. 

The project – called JOUSSOUR – is funded by the EU in the framework of the CBCMed programme and managed by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (Italy). It held its first coordination meeting on 14 October 2011, in Tunis, at the ASBU (Arab States Broadcasting Union) headquarters. 

A press release said the main objective of the project was the co-production of twelve documentary magazines realised by young professionals from the Euro-Mediterranean region. This series will be produced for both television and web. Among its purposes is the enhancement of audiovisual cooperation and informing the general public on environmental challenges. This multicultural project is coordinated by the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM) with the following partners:

• ASBU- Arab States Broadcasting Union (Tunisia)
• Public Broadcasting Services Limited (Malta)
• RAI-Radiotelevisione Italiana / RAI Educational
• EBU – European Broadcasting Union (Associated Partner) The project will be implemented over 24 months with a total budget of €497,044, of which €447,290 as ENPI contribution (90%). 

The ‘ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007/2013’ is a multilateral cross-border cooperation programme co-financed by the EU under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument.
