News Tunisia: Increase in water consumption rates

On Tuesday, November 22nd, the National Water Distribution Utility in Tunisia (known as SONEDE) announced new water consumption price increases.

The changes began to take effect in September. Some increases will target those who consume more than 100 m3 per three months. The augmentation will not affect underprivileged families. The increase will reach 125 Millime/m3 for those consuming more than 100 and less than 150 m3 per three months, 135 Millime/m3 for a consummation of more than 500 m3, and 85 Millime/m3 for a consummation of more than 150 and less than 500 m3. For the majority of consumers, the price increase will reach 300 Millime per m3.

The SONEDE explained that these price increases have been introduced to cover the administration’s expenses with production and structural maintenance.
