Postdoc position in Environmental chemistry

DEGRADATION OF PHARMACEUTICALS IN WATER USING ADVANCED LC TANDEM MASS SPECTROMETRY TECHNIQUES

The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), based in Girona (Spain), is offering a postdoc position in the group of Water Quality for the study of different aspects related to the degradation of emerging contaminants and the formation of transformation products.

The candidate should hold a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related areas. The position requires experience with chromatographic techniques coupled to mass spectrometry. Working practice with High Resolution Mass Spectrometry will be very much appreciated.

Instrumentation available includes LC-MS/MS, LC-QqLIT, GC-MS/MS, LC-HRMS, and others. Understanding in chemical and biological processes occurring during degradation processes is also desirable. The candidate will be expected to conduct research related to the identification and quantification of organic contaminants and their degradation products in water in the frame of the FP7 project ENDETECH.

The successful candidate should have a record of excellent research including publications, presentations, etc. The candidate has to be able to conduct independent research and to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with high level of communication and minimum supervision. Fluent English is required.

The position is for a 1 year period starting between January and March 2012 (potentially extended for up to 2 years). Gross salary package is about 25.000 €/year.
