EU green week 2012 focus on water
The 12th edition of EU Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy, is taking place from 22 to 25 May 2012 in Brussels.
During 40 sessions, the conference has a special focus on water. This valuable resource needs to be used properly and sparingly, making sure that we have enough for all of its uses, and avoiding polluting our rivers, seas and oceans. Along with all other natural resources, this is one of the most vital for our continued existence on this planet. Among the main issues that will be addressed during the week: water and green economy, water pricing, floods, policies for europe and the world, Rio+20, water footrpint, etc. The gateway to information on European Water issues, WISE will be presented during a side session, as well as the progress of Water CoRe project on knowledge compilation related to water scarcty and drouhgt in Europe. Finally, on 24-25 May, the Greeen Week will feature the 3rd EU water conference. A large exhibition including EU funded projects, businesses, NGO and public bodies is also organised together with satellites events.
Green week offers opportunities for debate and exchanges of experience and best practice. Over the past decade, the conference has established itself as an unmissable event for anyone involved with protecting the environment. The 2011 edition attracted some 3 160 participants from government, business and industry, non-governmental organisations, academia and the media.
