Senior Water & Sanitation Specialist (Waste Water Management), World Bank, USA [deadline 29 June]

To support the growing demand from its clients in the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LCR) for water services improvement, in particular waste water management, drainage, and flood protection, the World Bank is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Senior Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist.

Duty station: Washington, DC, USA

Requirements include:

  • Advanced degree(s) in engineering
  • Eight years experience (or 5 years and a PhD) in the water and sanitation sector in particular in waste water management
  • Experience in designing and implementing investment programs, ideally within the World Bank context or with other international development organizations
  • Language skills: English [Essential]; French [Desired]; Portuguese [Desired]; Spanish [Desired]

Programme Director, Water Footprint Network, The Netherlands [deadline 30 August]

The Water Footprint Network (WFN) has a vacancy for a Programme Director, who will lead the development and delivery of WFN’s Work Programme, ensure the scientific and technical rigour of Water Footprint Assessment (WFA) applications and lead specific projects and initiatives.

Contract duration: 2 years with probable extension
Preferred starting date: 01 November 2012
Duty station: University of Twente in Enschede, The Netherlands

Requirements include:

  • at least 10 years experience in the global water sector
  • academic level education with at least an Msc degree and doctorate
  • preferred in water/ natural resources/ environmental management
  • excellent communication skills in English – writing, speaking and
  • listening, other languages a plus

  • Advanced university degree level (or its equivalent) in public health and hygiene, civil engineering, public health engineering, social science, or another relevant subject or a Bachelors Degree plus training, professional qualifications and extensive experience
  • Two (or for a Bachelor’s degree four) years’ experience as a Project Officer with an international development organization, or comparable experience in the private sector.
