EU and Algeria prepare new environmental cooperation programme

Biodiversity, waste management, industrial pollution and addressing climate change on coastal development are the themes at the centre of the third meeting for the preparation of the new EU-Algeria cooperation programme in the field of environment.

 The meeting brought together representatives of different Algerian institutions (national, regional and local) active in the fields of environmental protection, health, forestry protection, water resources, but also representatives of the ministries of finance and foreign affairs. The partnership in this field, which is due to start by the end of this year, aims at reinforcing the strategy on the environment and climate change with the backup of reforms that Algeria has already started in the management of public finances in this sector but also in environmental policy and capacity building.
