Ramsar Calls for Wetland Conservation Awards Nominees
The Ramsar Secretariat has issued a call for nominations for the sixth
edition of the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Awards. The Awards will be presented
at the 12th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the
Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar COP 12), which will be held in
The Secretariat announced that three Awards will be given in the categories of: wetland wise use; wetland innovation; and young wetland champions. Each of the Awards will come with an Evian Special Prize of US$10,000 sponsored by the Danone Group.
The Ramsar Wetland Conservation Award was established in 1996 by Resolution VI.18 of the 6th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands to recognize and honor the contributions of individuals, organizations, and governments in promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands. The Award has been given on five prior occasions.
