News The Paris hub of the Future Earth Secretariat is seeking a Project Manager

Location: Paris (France)

Closing date: 24th August 2015

The Future Earth initiative:

Future Earth is a global program for sustainability science. It coordinates international transdisciplinary research on its three key themes: Dynamic Planet, Global Sustainable Development and Transformations towards Sustainability. It is also a platform for international engagement to ensure that knowledge is generated in partnership with society and users of science. Future Earth is open to researchers of the natural and social sciences, engineering, health, the humanities, and law and to all interested stakeholders ranging from policy makers to civil society. Future Earth is sponsored by the Science and Technology Alliance for Global Sustainability (“the Alliance”) comprising the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC), the Belmont Forum of funding agencies, the United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations University (UNU), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Setting of the Paris Hub:

The architecture of the Secretariat for Future Earth is unique in its global distribution. It encompasses five global hubs located in five different countries (the US, Canada, Japan, Sweden and France), connected through a dynamic network that includes regional hubs and associated partners.

The Future Earth Secretariat is committed to inclusivity and to fostering the creativity and innovation required to address the challenges of global environmental change. In this spirit it provides coordination and enabling services to Future Earth communities of researchers, decision makers and stakeholders of sustainability science.

While distributed on three continents, the Secretariat operates as a single entity under the direction of an Executive Director. Key functions of the Future Earth Secretariat include Coordination, Communication & Outreach, Research Enabling, Capacity Building, and Synthesis & Foresight. The hub in Paris will mainly focus on Synthesis & Foresight and on Capacity Building.
