Mediterranean Water Knowledge Platform  "Exchange of experience workshop on Water Information System (WIS)" Barcelona – 19 - 20 October 2017

 

SEMIDE Technical Unit, IOWater (International Office for Water) and IME (Mediterranean Water Institute) With the support of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) are organizing a workshop for exchanging experiences on good practices and financing of National Water Information Systems and their exploitation for planning water resources management in a context of climate change, in particular using a white book approach. This workshop will take place in Barcelona (France) from 17 to 19 October 2017.  

The workshop will bring together representatives from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Albania and Mauritania as well as international organizations and financial/development agencies.

The programme will include:  

Presentation and progress of the Mediterranean Water Knowledge Platform 

Role of the platform within the ongoing water process in the Mediterranean

  • 5+5 – Strategy and Action Plan for water in the Western Mediterranean
  • UfM Agenda for water
  • League of Arab States: water information management
  • Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals

-   Synergy with SWIM-H2020 and ENI-SEIS II South

  •   Sustainable Water Integrated Management and Horizon 2020
  •    Implementation of the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) principles and practices
-    Experiences from Pilot countries involved in the Med water knowledge platform:
  • Morocco
  • Tunisia
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon

- Feedback from other Mediterranean countries on their current status

  • Palestine, Algeria, Albania, Mauritania,

- Experiences from projects financed by donors
