Event IrWa Project Conference: Challenges for Irrigation Water Management

IrWa Project, in the framework of the MEDA Water Programme “Euro-Mediterranean Regional Programme for Local Water Management”, funded by the European Commission, is organizing the Conference “Challenges for Irrigation Water Management” during 10th-11th March 2008 in Amman-Jordan.

Objective:

  • Present lessons learnt and recommendations for Irrigation Water Management and related fields of activity from the IrWa Project experience,
  • Identify and discuss options for future activities in Irrigation Water Management and related fields,
  • Provide opportunities to partners and beneficiaries representatives for participation and exchange.

The Conference will be composed by:
  • Plenary session: Presentations (Project’s activities in Lebanon, Project’s activities in Jordan, and Expert’s presentations)
  • 4 Panels on:
  1. Irrigation network management and flood prevention
  2. Farmers’ associations: functions and dynamics
  3. On farm irrigation water management: water saving options.
  4. Extension services: steps towards a new concept.
  • Plenary session: Recommendations

Each workshop will be supported by one or more presentations in the plenary by an international expert and will count on the contribution of local experts (from Jordanian and Lebanese organizations and Universities) for the reporting and formulation of the recommendations.
