Event Advanced Course on “Risk Management in Mediterranean Agriculture: Agricultural Insurance”

The Advanced Course "Risk Management in Mediterranean Agriculture: Agricultural Insurance" will be held in Zaragoza, Spain, from 24 to 28 November 2008. Likewise, may we inform you that the deadline for the admission of applications has been extended to 25th September 2008.

The objective of this course is to provide decision makers with applicable tools for agricultural risk management, with a special focus on the design, implementation and evaluation of insurance schemes adequate for the Mediterranean region conditions.

The course will allow participants to:
- Analyse the main risks affecting agriculture in the Mediterranean countries.
- Acquire experience, through case studies, in the real application of different risk management strategies,
studying the technical, economic, social and environmental factors of the systems that can influence their success or failure.
- Establish institutional and personal relations that may contribute in the future towards improving cooperation in
the region, to provide more information on the conditions in which the insurance strategies are implemented, so they can be perfected and adapted to each country.
