Event A global challenge needs a global dialogue - Invitation for reception marking the opening of photo exhibition on adaptation to climate change

On Tuesday 8 December 2009 at 3.30 p.m. a photo exhibition will open at Halmtorvet in central Copenhagen (Vesterbro), just around the corner from DGI Byen where "Klimaforum09, peoples climate summit" takes place. The exhibition is capturing the essence of the nexus between development and climate change.

To mark the opening, you are invited to a reception hosted by the Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark, Ms. Ulla Tørnæs, taking place at "PH Caféen" on Halmtorvet, see address below.

The exhibition presents - with a human face - the vast consequences of climate change for the poorest countries and calls for a global dialogue on adaptation to climate change. The focus is land and water resources which are crucial to the livelihoods of the most vulnerable (Please see more at www.landwaterdialogue.um.dk).

The photos are taken by Tine Harden, a Danish photojournalist whose work centers around Africa which she depicts with great affection. Through the visual poetry of Tine Harden, the fight against poverty is linked to the earth itself, making the case that we must strengthen the voice of developing countries in the climate change dialogue. Tine Harden has twice won the prestigious award "Press Photographer of the Year" in Denmark.

Speakers will be Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark Ms. Ulla Tørnæs and Chairman of the Board of CARE Denmark Mr. Leo Bjørnskov.
