News New Project Coordinator for the "Zarqa River Basin Rehabilitation Project"

Mr. Batir Wardam has just resigned from his latest position as an Environment Analyst in the UNDP Country Office in Jordan. Starting Sunday Feb 15th he has assumed his new responsibility as Project Coordinator for the "Zarqa River Basin Rehabilitation Project" implemented by the Ministry of Environment and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) with technical partnership by the IUCN Regional Office for West Asia and Middle East.

The project attempts to build national capacities and initiate a concerted national response to the severe levels of degradation to which river basins in Jordan are subject using the Zarqa river basin as a pilot region for the adoption of an Ecosystem based approach to sustainable water resources management incorporating all levels of interventions from research to policy development to field testing and involving all relevant stakeholders and interest groups from government, non-government, private and local communities sectors.
