Barroso wins second term as European Commission President

1.  Barroso wins second term as Commission President The European Parliament has approved the appointment of José Manuel Barroso as President of the European Commission for a second term.

2.  New President of Conference of Committee Chairs The Conference of Committee Chairs, which coordinates the work of all the European Parliament's standing and temporary committees, has elected German MEP Klaus-Heiner Lehne as its President.

3.  Neven reappointed as Chief Competition Economist The European Commission has reappointed Professor Damien Neven as the Chief Competition Economist for a further period of three years.

4.  New Commission Head of Representation in Italy The European Commission has appointed Lucio Battistotti as its new Head of Representation in Rome, Italy.

5.  Jorge Milne e Carmo is WEI's new President Jorge Milne e Carmo was appointed President of the European Institute for Wood Preservation (WEI) by the WEI General Assembly held in Dresden on 3 September 2009.

6.  New Chief Executive Officer at EurActiv Rick Zedník has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer of EurActiv, a European Union information website. 

7.  Maggy Peeters is the EBF's new General Manager Maggy Peeters is the new General Manager of the European Business Forum (EBF). She replaces Pierre Hermant.

8.  Eurodiaconia appoints new Policy Officer Clotilde Clark-Foulquier has joined Eurodiaconia, the European network for social service providers from Protestant, Anglican and Orthodox Christian traditions, as policy officer.

9.  Anna Gergely joins Steptoe & Johnson Brussels Dr Anna Gergely has joined Steptoe & Johnson LLP's Brussels office as a Partner, Principal Scientist and Director EHS Regulatory.
