“An Istanbul Perspective on Regional Water Problems & Search for Solutions”

at the

Stockholm World Water Week!

The launch of the Final Report: “An Istanbul Perspective on Regional Water Problems & Search for Solutions” presenting the outcomes of the 2nd Istanbul International Water Forum will be at the Stockholm World Water Week.

The report will be available during the whole Week from Istanbul International Water Forum Stand.

 

The 2nd Istanbul International Water Forum, held from May 3rd to May 5th, 2011, brought together over 4,500 participants from 100 countries around the world and particularly from Central Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The Forum served as a platform for the key international and local water stakeholders In and Around Turkey to widen the debate and foster greater coordination amongst the water professionals, policy makers, non-governmental institutions, as well as individuals in the region.

The Forum’s main theme “Regional Water Problems and Search for Solutions - Istanbul Perspective” was addressed through:

  • Ministerial Meeting where ministers and high level decision makers from the region gathered in Istanbul to share their visions on common water challenges.
  • 4 Regional Focus Meetings gathering prominent water experts from Central Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Turkey.
  • 3 High Level Panels on IWRM, Water-Food-Energy Nexus and Urban Water Services
  • 26 thematic sessions organized under six sub-themes, namely: regional technical cooperation on water; water for energy; agricultural water management; global climate change and water; urban water management, and water resources management and water culture, and
  • 17 Side Events organized during the Forum.

The outcomes of these meetings will provide valuable technical and intellectual input to the 6th World Water Forum in 2012.
