Save Water, Reuse Water: international conference to promote water efficiency
The EU-funded ACCBAT project, implemented under the Cross Border Cooperation programme in the Mediterranean Basin (CBC-Med) with the aim of increasing water-use efficiency and reuse of treated wastewater for irrigated agriculture in Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia, is holding an international conference on sustainable water management on 23 March in Rome.
The event, under the title "Save Water, Reuse Water", is organized as part of UN World Water Day 2015 and under the patronage of Expo 2015. Officials and experts from both sides of the Mediterranean will discuss ways to increase water use efficiency, especially in agriculture.
The ACCBAT project aims to improve water demand management and ensure water needs of the agricultural sector through the increase of water-use efficiency and of use of treated wastewater. Pilot actions, reinforcement of capacity building and training in Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia are the key activities to achieve these objectives.
The ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007/2013 is a multilateral cross-border cooperation programme funded by the European Union under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument. It aims at reinforcing cooperation between the EU and partner countries' regions located along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
