News Euro-INBO conference 2023 and Kick of the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum, Valencia Spain

The Euro-INBO conference took place in Valencia 16-19 October. The conference focused on with 5 sessions on the management of nonpoint source pollution, new challenges for the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD)in relation with other European water directives, integrating reuse to cope with droughts and water scarcity, he role of the different actors in the implementation of the WFD, transboundary and international cooperation. In addition 2 workshops were organised, one on innovative water gouvernance to face water shortages, jointly organised by 3 Horizon Europe projects Govaqua, Innwater and ReTouch; and on river management in a climate change context organised with French Biodiversity Agency (OFB). The kick-off meeting of the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum was organised side-by-side to the conference on Thursday 18 October, giving the opportunity for participants to follow sessions from both events and take part in side visits to Valencia unique water tribunal or to Albufeira wetland. Both events were supported by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of Spain (MITECO) and the Mediterranean Network of Basin Organizations (MENBO). The 5th Med Water forum will take place in Tunis on 5-6 February 2024. The key topics of the forum were proposed in Valencia, with opportunity for Mediterranean stakeholders to be involved.
