News SWIM-H2020 SM 1st Training on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) “Limiting plastic waste, promoting recycling and the use of non-conventional water resources in Jordan”

A  successful training on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) was organized by the EU-funded SWIM-Horizon 2020 Support Mechanism, on 13-14 September 2017, in Amman, Jordan.

The Training aimed to raise awareness and contribute to building the capacity of educators and other professionals on the design and application of ESD programmes. It focused on showcasing how educational projects about the use of non-conventional water resources and sustainable solid waste management (recycling, limiting plastic bags, marine litter) can be designed and applied.

More than 55 formal and non-formal educators and administrators of primary and secondary schools, University professors, educators and facilitators working with NGOs, institutions for the Environment and Sustainable Development, facilitators, educational inspectors, school principals, the Ministries of Environment, Education, Water, the Committee for Environmental Culture and the Jordan National Commission for Education, participated in sessions explaining in depth the Mediterranean Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development (MSESD) and explored options on how its recently adopted Action Plan could be effectively applied in the country.
